Use your oven or grill!
This easy Oven Baked Cedar Plank Salmon with Cilantro Lime Yogurt Aioli comes together very quickly for an easy quick meal. You can bake the Cedar Plank Salmon in the oven or put it on the grill. I do prefer the Cedar planks (paid link) smoked on the grill better, but I’m not the grill master in my house so I use the oven when he’s not home. It’s so fast and easy and easy clean up too! And for you Weight Watchers out there, 0 Freestyle Smart Points! Wow!
Can you use cedar wood planks in the oven?
Yes, you definitely can! For best results place the soaked cedar planks (paid link) directly on the oven rack and place a pan underneath to catch any drippings. This way the air circulates around the planks.
Do you have to soak the cedar planks?
Yes, for best flavor you should soak the cedar planks (paid link) at least 15 minutes in hot water before using. There seems to be a lot of debate about soaking time, some say up to 2 hours but I find 15-30 minutes is really all you need as long as you use hot water. For more info about soaking, read this fascinating post.
This recipe is so easy especially if you already have my Homemade Chipotle Seasoning on hand!

What wine pairs best with Cedar Plank Salmon?
Since salmon is a rich oily fish, and we are using a yogurt based sauce, pair it with an oaked Chardonnay, Viognier, Grüner Veltliner (one of my favorites) or Sauvignon Blanc. For a more in depth pairing guide on salmon and wine, check out this post.
For a quick and complete meal, try Cedar Plank Vegetables to go alongside your salmon. They can bake at the same time!
